The Brussels Studies Institute (BSI) functions as the interuniversity contact and coordination platform for scientific research on Brussels. BSI promotes, facilitates and develops integrated research on the complex Brussels‘ challenges by overcoming institutional boundaries, adopting an interdisciplinary approach and connecting researchers with a different linguistic background.
Furthermore, BSI aims at centralising knowledge on Brussels and making it accessible, creating collaborations between researchers and other actors of the Brussels society and finally, providing training and debates for different audiences through its initiative Brussels Academy. To fulfil its missions, BSI works closely with the urban studies networks of its five member universities (EBxl – ULB; BCUS – VUB; IRIB – USL-B; LUSI – KU Leuven & Louvain4City – UCLouvain).
