Members of the URBEUR doctorate programme at the University of Milano Bicocca coordinate several research projects relevant to urban studies. Some examples are as follows.
For example, the PRELOC project (building local preparedness to global crises, funded by Cariplo Banking Foundation) focuses on clarifying, fine tuning and operationalising preparedness as a style of reasoning and set of governmental techniques for reflecting about and intervening in an uncertain, potentially catastrophic future, particularly environmental and health crises.
Other projects explore the risk factors of impoverishment in the Northern Milan area (coping with social vulnerability through datasets, funded by the Feltrinelli Foundation); analyse the links between mobility and urban transformations in the Mediterranean in the context of major political and socio-economic changes (funded by Ecole Française de Rome); and explore the independent art scene in Milan (Milano remapped, funded by Cariplo Banking Foundation).
